<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode discharge lamp which is easy to manufacture at low cost, and a method for manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The cold cathode discharge lamp includes a glass bulb 1 having a discharge space 11 formed in its inner part; a discharge medium sealed in the discharge space 11; and an electrode 31 provided within the glass bulb 1. The electrode 31 has a cup shape formed of a T-shaped member 311 constituting a bottom member and a side member 312 formed by rolling a metal plate with both being partially overlapped, and includes a fusion layer 313 formed by laser-welding the overlapped part.
