PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can discharge thickened ink effectively while minimizing the generation of mist. SOLUTION: Idle delivering operation is carried out by applying four continuous drive pulses P1 through P4 as idle delivering drive pulses, and the droplet speed (delivering speed) of a plurality of idle delivering droplets to be delivered by the drive pulses P1 through P4 is set to become lower stepwise. The droplet speed of the idle delivering droplet which is delivered lastly by the drive pulse P4 is the droplet speed generating no satellite, and is set lower than the droplet speed of the idle delivering droplet which is delivered firstly.
