The present invention relates to an aqueous coating material which contains at least one polyurethane which is saturated, unsaturated and/or grafted with olefinically unsaturated compounds, ionically and/or nonionically stabilized, and at least one organic aliphatic solvent, characterized in that the solvent has a solubility parameter H < 10 (cal/cm)and a degree of branching which corresponds to a ratio of CH-and CH-groups to CH-groups of at least 25:75. The invention further relates to a process for production thereof and use thereof.
