PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sight state detector for precisely detecting a restriction object for restricting a sight via the windshield of a vehicle, and to provide a sight ensuring device. SOLUTION: In a raindrop R, where a restriction object for restricting a sight via the windshield W adheres to the outer surface Wo of the windshield W, a control circuit 24 receives reflection light Lo at the side of the outer surface and reflection light Li at the side of an inner surface to generate an image D for detection, and detects the raindrop R, based on a first region Po occupied by the reflection light Lo at the side of the outer surface and a second region Pi occupied by the reflection light Li at the side of an inner surface in the image D for detection. In fog C that a restriction object for restricting a sight via the windshield W generates on the inner surface Wi of the windshield W, the control circuit 24 detects the fog C, based on both of the regions Po, Pi in a reference image Db generated in advance when no fog C has been generated and both of the regions Po, Pi in the image D for detection, namely an image for determining fog.
