PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a classification device and a classification method for a golfer, advantageous in selecting an optimal golf club. SOLUTION: A measuring system 20 generates three-dimensional time series data indicating the motion of a grip part 36 of a golf club by the position and direction of the grip part 36, and supplies it to a main device 60. The main device 60 performs operation for reproducing golf swings by two kinds of golf club models which are a rigid restriction model and a soft restriction model respectively using the three-dimensional time series data. The main device 60 computes characteristic physical quantities indicating the features of the golfer from the two operation results, classifies the golfer based on the characteristic physical quantities and selects the optimal golf club based on the classified result.
