PURPOSE:To obtain a high tension steel wire having superior delayed fracture resistance by hardening and tempering a steel wire having a specified composition under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a steel wire is composed of, by weight, <0.5% C and the balance Fe with impurities including <0.02%, especially <0.015% P and <0.015%, especially <0.01% S. The steel wire is hardened by heating to a temp. above the Ac3 transformation point and quenching at a cooling rate above the critical cooling rate. The steel wire is then tempered at 100-700 deg.C. |
