Vitamin D derivative compounds of formula 1A and 1B are disclosed, wherein X1 and X2 are independently selected from H or hydroxy protecting groups. These compounds may be used in preparing pharmaceutical compositions and are useful in treating a variety of biological disorders. These compounds are particularly suitable for antagonizing the vitamin D receptor, for treating asthma, for treating eczema, or for treating hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis, or vitamin D intoxication.
