<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article display apparatus that discriminates a behavior showing that a large amount of articles are likely to be shoplifted from a behavior showing that articles are likely to be purchased normally. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: a simultaneous decrease calculating means 23 for calculating a value by subtracting the present number of articles from the previous number of articles as a simultaneous decrease quantity n when a decrease determination means 23 determines that the number of articles is decreased; a decrease counting means 23 for calculating the number of times that the articles 3 is determined to be decreased by the decrease determination means 23 as a decrease count m; total decrease calculation means 23 for calculating a value to which the simultaneous decrease n is added, as a total decreaseΣn; and notification determination means 9 for determining a notification when the simultaneous decrease n becomes a predetermined threshold or more and/or when the decrease count m becomes a predetermined threshold or more and/or the total decreaseΣn becomes a predetermined threshold or more.
