SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OBSTACLE DETECTION AND WARNING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection system which properly detects any potentially hazardous obstacles.

SOLUTION: The obstacle detection system 100 is provided with: a transmitting antenna 112 which can operate so as to emit radio frequency (RF) signal; and a transmitter 102 which can operate so as to control transmission of RF signal from the above antenna. This obstacle detection system is also provided with: a receiving antenna 110 operable so as to receive reflection of the RF signal; and a processing circuit 106 operable so as to analyze plural properties of radar cross section (RCS) of the received reflection for identifying any obstacle and its one or more physical attributes. The transmitter operates so as to control transmission of frequency modulation continuous wave (FMCW) RF signal through the above transmitting antenna, while the transmitting antenna is operable so as to transmit non-polarimetric RF signal.
