PURPOSE: A photographing apparatus and a method for controlling the photographing apparatus are provided to minimally suppress an access band of a memory, thereby reducing power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A distortion correcting unit(106) corrects distortion of a photographed image by image processing. A zooming unit(110) zooms the magnification of the photographed image by image processing. A host CPU(120) executes one of a distortion correction process and a zooming process. When the photographed image is zoomed, the photographed image is enlarged by the zooming unit.
