The four walls of a stackable open tray formed by folding up the sides 2, 3, 4, 5 are fastened at the corners by a joint consisting of a preformed metal or plastics clamp 7 passing through slots 9 in the walls and holding a block 8 fitted into the space between the walls and the clamp. Clamp 7 may also be constructed as part of a corner clasp 10, Fig. 4, wherein a part 11 bears against the underneath of the tray. In a further modification sides 12 extend downwards beyond the bottom of the box to reduce lateral movement when the boxes are stacked. The corner post 8 which is of wood or synthetic plastics material may be the same height as the walls or longer to provide a clearance when stacked. If the walls are deep extra rigidity can be obtained by using more than one clamp on each corner. |
