PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively and easily producing a cyclic amino acid of high optical purity which is important as a raw material or intermediate for synthesizing use in inventing pharmaceutical/agrochemical compounds. SOLUTION: The objective cyclic amino acid of formula (II) is obtained from an L-diamino acid of formula (I) (wherein, X is a straight-chain or branched-chain 1-6C hydrocarbon chain) using microorganisms belonging to the genus Paracoccus having the activity of converting the L-diamino acid into the objective cyclic amino acid.
