<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging optical system, etc. capable of satisfying reduction of both the size and thickness of an optical system and obtaining the excellent correction state of various aberrations particularly for a chromatic aberration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging optical system has a lens component in which: one optical surface C of an intermediate layer L2 made of a transparent material having an Abbe number of νd2, which is in close contact with the other optical surface B of a lens L1 made of a transparent material having an Abbe number of νd1 is an aspherical optical surface different from the optical surface B in a shape; and a lens L3 made of a transparent material having an Abbe number of νd3 is in close contact with the optical surface C. The imaging optical system satisfies the following conditions (1) and (2): 0.012<1/νd3-1/νd1<0.090 (1) and 0.010<1/νd3-1/νd2 (2), where νd1 is the Abbe number of the lens L1, νd2 is the Abbe number of the intermediate layer L2 and νd3 is the Abbe number of the lens L3.
