<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the distance from a label side of a disk type recording medium loaded in a disk loading part to an ink discharging part of a printing part. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The device is provided with a disk attaching part rotating an optical disk 2, an optical pickup, a printing device, a distance detecting part and a print determination part. The distance detecting part has a light source 104 arranged at an inside in the direction of a radius of a label plane 2a side of the optical disk 2 attached to the disk attaching part, and a light receiving part 105 arranged at an outside in the direction of radius so as to be opposite to the light source through an outer peripheral edge of a label side. Light emitted from the light source is received by the light receiving part and the distance from the label plane 2a to the ink discharging part is detected based on the distance from the light source and the light receiving part to the optical disk.
