<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a placing base for a washing machine which is capable of effectively installing and holding the washing machine and coping even with leg positions in various forms by a compact and simple configuration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The placing base for the washing machine includes: two sets of diagonal brace members 2 and 3 which have a mounting member 11 having a mounting surface 13 for mounting the leg 22 of the washing machine and abutting on a floor surface at the lower part at both end parts and are capable of being extended and contracted in the longitudinal direction; a shaft 6 which is provided at an intersection at which the diagonal brace members are crossed, and holds the respective diagonal brace members so as to be turned respectively; and a fixing member which holds the respective diagonal brace members at an optional crossing angle and fixes them to the shaft at a prescribed position. The crossing angle of the respective diagonal brace members is determined by disposing the mounting member corresponding to the leg position of the washing machine, and the respective diagonal brace members are fixed by extending and contracting a distance from the respective intersections of the respective diagonal brace members to the mounting member and tightening the shaft by the fixing member.
