[Also in Division A5] A current generator for physiological stimulation comprises a transistor blocking oscillator connected through a transformer 10 to treatment electrodes 24, 25 at which rectangular pulses of alternating polarity and constant frequency are produced, each pulse occupying only a fraction of a cycle. Transistors 2, 9 are both connected to the primary winding 9 of the transformer and to a blocking condenser 8 so that they operate alternately and supply the pulses to the treatment electrodes connected to the secondary winding of the transformer. Direct current from a source 13 is supplied to the oscillator through the primary winding 9. The circuit is de-energized by either a tripping member 28 operable by the patient to open a switch 15 or by operation of the switch 23. The transformer may have several secondary windings, each connected to a pair of electrodes. Several oscillator circuits each connected with a pair of electrodes may be operated in a sequence determined by a programming mechanism.
