PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ratchet mechanism allowing further effective use of a plurality of pairs of engagement claw and engaged claw. SOLUTION: The ratchet mechanism is configured to attain a state in which a claw 12a and a claw 11a are mutually meshed in an abutting state in one pair A1 of the claw 12a and the claw 11a corresponding thereto, while in the other pair A2 of a claw 12 and a claw 11a corresponding thereto, the claw 12a and the claw 11a are mutually opposed adjacently without meshing. When a force F acts from the claw 11a to the claw 12a of the one pair A1, a latch 12 is turned in the direction CW of approaching a rack 11 in a position where the other pair A2 is formed.
