<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having job-separation printing function which is excellent in user's convenience, and to provide a printing control method of the image forming apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A printer includes: a job registration processing section 100 that receives the input of a print job having a designated printing direction; an intermediate code buffer BUF that holds data of successively input print jobs as intermediate code data; a printing schedule control section 110 that controls the printing schedule of the print jobs held in the intermediate code buffer BUF; and a printing processing section 120 that performs the printing processing of the print jobs held in the intermediate code buffer BUF in accordance with the printing schedule. The printing schedule control section 110 is configured to perform job-separation printing of the print jobs held in the intermediate code buffer BUF by setting the printing order of the print jobs so that the printing direction may become alternately vertical and horizontal for each of print jobs.
