PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-carbon hot-rolled steel sheet excellent in workability including stretch flange-formability, applicable even to severe press-working without generating pro-eutectoid ferrite in the hot-rolling stage by controlling the temperature of the steel sheet after completing a finish-rolling to objective temperature range under the consideration of the heat-generation of transformation when the high-carbon hot-rolled steel sheet is produced. SOLUTION: The high-carbon steel having a component system, with which the behavior to the heat-generation of transformation after forced cooling, is mild and the temperature control is easily performed, by adding a prescribed amount of Cr, is used and the temperature hysteresis of the hot-rolled steel sheet after completing a finish-rolling, is controlled to the prescribed value and the structure of the hot-rolled steel sheet is controlled into the structure having the prescribed amount of bainite.
