PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably read a bar code with a bar code reader regardless of many variation factors of a line width. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a developer for making a clear image from an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor; and a black line width changing means. When an image including a bar code given from an external apparatus is printed, the changing means changes at least one of image forming conditions so as to change a width of each black line in the bar code, based on the total dot count in width data of white lines both adjacent to the black line. The image forming conditions to be changed includes, for example, a pulse width change control for performing a development biasing, a laser output of a laser being an optical source of an optical writing apparatus, and an edge processing to change only the dot sizes of both ends of a line to be written by the laser.
