PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vulcanization accelerator to be compounded with a rubber composition so as to improve adhesion between rubber and a metallic reinforcement member inside a rubber product such as a tire, and to provide a highly safe vulcanization accelerator. SOLUTION: The vulcanization accelerator comprises a 2-substituted dithiobenzothiazole compound represented by formula (I) and a benzothiazolyl-2-sulfenamide compound represented by formula (II). The vulcanization accelerator comprises 5-100 pts.wt. of the benzothiazolyl-2-sulfenamide compound, based on 100 pts.wt. of the 2-substituted dithiobenzothiazole compound.
