An alpine safety barrier consists of an upright net at that is presented transverse to the anticipated direction from which falling objects may arrive. The net is suspended between a series of upright posts in-line. The posts are in turn retained by a horizontal array of equidistantly spaced cables (7) that converge after the outer posts into a ground anchorage point (8). The post upper end are linked by cable (6) to anchorage points (9) uphill.
