A METHOD FOR PRODUCING LOWER SIZE, HIGH TENACITY AND HIGH MODULUS POLYETHYLENE FIBER

A method for producing lower size, high tenacity and high modulus polyethylene fiber, which includes: dissolving UHMW-PE into lower viscosity paraffin oil to form spinning solution containing 3~15% of UHMW-PE; applying 2.5±1.0Mpa of high pressure to the spinning solution, passing the solution through thinner spinplate containing at least 10 spinholes having an inflow zone of diameter 0.7~0.8mm and L/D=10-12;extruding the liquid in the spinholes at 200~3500secof rate of shear, drawing the liquid at 200~5000minof nozzle rate of deformation in 10~15mm clearance between the spinplate and cooling liquid level; putting the liquid drawn by the nozzle into cooling liquor to form gel-filament; extracting and drying the gel-filament; drawing the dried gel-filament <=15 times of multilevel ultra-drawing. It may achieve that high rate of shear and high rate of deformation by using the method.
