METHOD FOR ASSESSMENT OF SYMPATHETIC REFLECTORY ACTIVITY UNDER GENERAL ANAESTHESIA CAUSED BY LARYNGOSCOPY AND ENDOTRACHEAL INTUBATION

An invention refers to the field of medicine and can be applied for assessment of patient’s sympathetic reflectory activity under general anaesthesia caused by laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation as well as for evaluation of adrenergic reaction caused by some devices used in anaesthesiologic and intensive therapies. The method offered includes the following consecutive steps: dilution of the patient’s saliva by a solvent which has a similar osmolarity to that of the saliva; dilution by the solvent which has a similar osmolarity to that of the saliva of the second salivary sample obtained from the patient’s mouth1-3 min. after intubation,the precipitation of the cells in the diluted salivary samples, alfa amylase detection in the salivary samples by Phadeba method, comparison of alfa amylase level before intubation and after it. If the alfa amylase level after laryngoscopy or during endotracheal intubation is higher than before it, one can find the patient’s sympathetic reflectory activity to the specific intubation device.
