Vinyl chloride or a mixture thereof with one or more copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers is polymerized in aqueous suspension in the presence of a catalyst and a mixture of polyvinyl alcohol (by partial or complete hydrolysis of the acetate) and one or more products resulting from the condensation of a polyoxyalkylene glycol with a polyamine: a porous product is obtained.
