PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade drive device for a camera which causes an electromagnetic actuator having a substantially U-shaped yoke to reciprocate at least one blade, wherein reduction in thickness of the device and small plane shape of a base plate are achieved while securing the shape accuracy and strength of the base plate. SOLUTION: A shutter blade 4 is reciprocatively rotated by the output pin 5c of a rotor 5. A stator frame 6 is attached to the stator attaching shafts 1c and 1d of the base plate 1, while a coil 7 is wound on a bobbin part 6c and one leg 8a of the U-shaped yoke 8 is inserted into the hollow part of the bobbin 6c. In the attachment state of the stator frame 6, part of the circumferential surfaces of the flanges 6c-1 and 6c-2 of the bobbin part 6c and part of the circumferential surface of the coil 7 are close to a rectangular relief hole 1g formed in the base plate 1. A reinforcement part 1j forming the long side of the relief hole 1g on the circumferential surface side of the base plate 1 is formed so as to face the part of the circumferential surfaces of the flanges 6c-1 and 6c-2 and the part of the circumferential surface of the coil 7 only from a blade chamber side.
