The system has a hand-held device (1) e.g. traffic stick (2), for wireless delivery of characteristics of traffic i.e. road traffic. A receiving unit receives data and converts the data into content for perception by a road user i.e. vehicle driver. The hand-held device has a control element (7) that sends the data during operation, where the control element has positions and/or operating parts (10) e.g. operating knobs. The control element is designed as a position-/movement sensor (11), and the hand-held device is designed as a pointer, spoon or a flag.
