<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component mounting line that allows adjacent working machines to smoothly pass and receive a substrate to and from each other, and has a substrate conveyance style in which a substrate straddling conveyors of both working machines in a substrate passing/receiving process is stopped in the straddling state, and to provide a method for substrate conveyance between working machines. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A detection signal outputted from a feeder second sensor 22 that a substrate feeder 2 has is transmitted to a controller (mounting machine controller 38) of a component mounting machine 3 without going through a controller (feeder controller 24) of the substrate feeder 2, and the mounting machine controller 38 starts a conveyor (mounting machine conveyor 30) that the mounting machine 3 has based upon the detection signal transmitted from the substrate feeder 2.
