<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the advantage of automation and flexibility compatible in a liquid chromatograph apparatus in which the automation is an important problem because of needs of recent users to operate comparatively simply the apparatus even if they receive no special educational training about the liquid chromatography. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The automation of purging and bubbling can be realized by controlling a high-pressure switching valve and an electromagnetic valve with a time program. But, if always controlled by a fixed program, it will be no longer an intelligent automated device such as over purging, or too much bubbling. To make it intelligent it is necessary to device processing flow incorporating with expert's wisdom. In the case of the purging, it is desirable to control according to the pump stopping time, i.e. the purging time is made short, if the stopping time is short and the purging time is made sufficiently long, if the stopping time is long.
