The present invention relates to an apparatus for encryption and/or decryption of data. The apparatus comprises plurality of cores which include inputs and output data and set of first variables corresponding to the inputs and output and a set of second variables being updated for each round of encryption/decryption, control means comprising respective input of the variables and respective outputs selecting any one core in each round of encryption/decryption so as to generate core outputs and means for combining generated data items of each of the cores comprising core outputs as inputs and outputs the result as keystream in case of SSC and as ciphertext in case of block ciphers. The invention also relates to a method for encryption and/or decryption of data. The invention also relates to a method for stream cipher encryption and/or decryption.
