<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control pulse output of a semiconductor laser. <P>SOLUTION: A short-pulse light source 1 emits anomalous output light LAp composed of an anomalous peak APK and an anomalous slope ASP with emission light intensity smaller than that of the anomalous peak APK as laser beam LL from a semiconductor laser 3 by applying a laser drive voltage DJ consisting of a pulse of drive voltage pulse DJW to the semiconductor laser 3. The short-pulse light source 1 adjusts the ratio of the anomalous peal APK to the anomalous slope ASP by setting pulse width Ws of a set pulse SLs to control voltage pulse half-width Thalf which is the pulse width of the drive voltage pulse DJw. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
