The tube has a cathode (1) thermoionically emitting electron beams (5a, 5b) during radiation by a laser beam (2) in a focus. An anode (6) emits x-rays (8a, 8b) during impinging the electron beams in focal spots (7a, 7b). The focus of the laser beam is formed as a spring focus with preset intensity profiles (11a, 11b). The spring focus is movable in a z-direction (z) and a phi-direction. The cathode is split into segments (4a, 4b) emitting the electron beams. The laser beam in a middle segment (4c) exhibits intensity (I) smaller than that in a boundary region.
