An automatic grease lubricating apparatus for heavy goods vehicles and other machines comprises a hydraulic circuit in which a power unit (10) applies hydraulic pressure to springless, piston-type grease dispensers (17) to deliver a metered charge of grease to appropriate greasing points of the machine. It then applies hydraulic pressure to grease in a grease cylinder (14) feeding the dispensers (17) via a distribution line (20). When grease pressure at the distal end of this line reaches 10 bar, a pressure switch (110) acts to stop the power unit and relieve hydraulic pressure. Residual pressure in the grease, as grease pressure slowly decays, is used for resetting and recharging the dispensers. |
