<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the action of a vehicle from becoming unstable when the output properties of an electric motor, which rotates drive wheels, switch between a low-speed mode and a high-speed mode. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method of controlling the motor of an electric vehicle, in which the output properties of the electric motor 5 for rotating the drive wheels 16 of the vehicle 1 are switched between a low-speed mode corresponding to the operation range a little to low revolution and a high-speed mode being correspondable to an operation range a little to higher revolution than it, with a specified switching rotational speed Nt as a boundary, includes turn initial determination steps (S5 and S14) for determining whether the vehicle 1 is in the initial state of turn or not and shift steps (S6 and S15) for shifting the switching rotational speed so that the switch between the low-speed mode and the high-speed mode may be executed relatively early, in case that it is determined to be initial state of turn on these steps.
