<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for manufacturing a helical member which is applicable to a high strength material with low ductility and to a material with a large proportion of width to a shaft diameter, improves wear-resistance, increases conveying efficiency of a screw conveyer, and efficiently manufactures helical members with reduced dimensional variance, and to provide a method for manufacturing the helical member, the helical member manufactured by the same, a spiral, and a method for manufacturing the spiral. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing the helical member is equipped with a shaft 2 and a driving means 3 which is connected with the shaft 2 to give rotational force to the shaft 2. A long flat metal material 1 is restrained by a restraining member 7 so as to be fed in such a direction that the width direction of the material 1 intersects perpendicularly with the shaft axis center and wound around the shaft 2 by rotation of the shaft 2 to form the helical member 19. The restraining member 7 has a pair of dies which are piled together and fitted outside the shaft 2 to form helical grooves 13.
