<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-cylinder engine capable of suppressing damage of an EGR cooler. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the multi-cylinder engine, a valve case gas inlet 9 of an EGR valve case 5 is connected to a cooler gas outlet 8 at a rear end of the EGR cooler 4, a valve case gas outlet 10 of the EGR valve case 5 is communicated with a guide passage gas inlet 12 of an EGR gas guide passage 6 through a check valve 11, back-flow from the EGR gas guide passage 6 to the EGR valve case 5 is prevented by the check valve 11, the guide passage gas outlet 14 of the EGR gas guide passage 6 is communicated with the inside of an intake air guide pipe 7 in front of the circumferential wall of the intake guide pipe 7, and EGR gas 16 flowing from the front side of the circumferential wall of the intake guide pipe 7 is mixed into intake air 15 guided in the intake guide pipe 7. A check valve storage case 18 is vertically formed from an upper part of an intake distribution passage wall 17, the EGR valve case 5 is put on an upper part of the check valve storage case 18, and the EGR cooler 4 is tilted down toward an EGR cooler gas inlet 19 at a front end thereof.
