<p>The invention comprises (a) compounds of formula C6F4HX (X=Cl, Br or I), other than 1,3-ClHC6F4 and 1,2-BrHC6F4, and (b) a method of preparing a hydrofluorobenzene or hydrohalogenofluorobenzene by reducing a halogenofluorobenzene with acid + finely divided metal (e.g. HOAc + Zn), in which the reactants and products contain at least 3F and "halogen" = X. Examples describe the production of BrHC6F4 + H2C6F4 from Br2C6F4 (all isomers) and 1,3,5-Cl2HC6F3 from 1,3,5-Cl3C6F3. Bromination of 1,2-H2C6F4 gives 1,2-BrHC6F4 + 1,2-Br2C6F4.</p> |
