<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle distance detecting device for accurately integrating the hazardous level of each hazard location into a database, while being a low load. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The obstacle distance detection device successively records a distance with an obstacle. When an obstacle distance (D) becomes smaller than a limiting distance (L), own vehicle location is recorded, and a warning is issued to a driver. Thereafter, when a driver steps on a brake, and the obstacle distance (D) becomes equal to or more than the limiting distance (L), the minimum value of the recorded obstacle distance is extracted. When the extracted minimum value is smaller than the limiting distance (L), the minimum value of the obstacle distance and information that indicates own vehicle location at that time is output.
