The unit has an intermediate gearwheel (59) driven by a drive gear (57), and a driven gear (61) driven by the intermediate gear wheel. The intermediate gearwheel is supported by an idler roller, where rotation axis of the idler roller is eccentrically arranged with respect to the rotation axis of the intermediate gearwheel. The rotation axis of the idler roller is eccentrically arranged such that the idler roller supports the gearwheel in direction of the drive gear and in direction of the driven gear. The gearwheel is supported in axial direction by an axial bush bearing. An independent claim is also included for a transfer gear-box for a motor vehicle.
