PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for restoring a network are provided to remove network malfunction due to a disconnection signal line of a UTP(Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable without a separate communication line. CONSTITUTION: A switch unit(210) transceives a signal through at least one of a main signal line of a UTP cable or a supplementary signal line of the UTP cable. A disconnection detecting unit detects disconnection of the main signal line of the UTP cable. If the disconnection is detected, a controller(230) controls transceiving of a signal using the supplementary signal line of the UTP cable.
