PURPOSE: A gas valve on/off detection apparatus is provided to easily check the lock or release of a gas valve and thus to prevent safety accidents. CONSTITUTION: A gas valve on/off detection apparatus(10) comprise a knob(101), a battery, and a switching unit. The knob is installed in a valve body(102) connected to a gas service pipe(200). The battery is installed on the knob or a handle coupled with the knob and connected through a cable to a light emitting diode to supply power. The switching unit controls the power supply form the battery to the light emitting diode when the knob or handle is manipulated. The switching unit comprises a tube member with electrode terminals and liquid metal provided in the tube member to electrically connect the electrode terminals when the tube member is inclined by the manipulation of the knob or handle.
