PURPOSE: A navigation system for a vehicle and a method for displaying the map information thereof are provided to improve sight clearance of a driver by previously figuring out map information. CONSTITUTION: A navigation system for a vehicle comprises a Global Positioning System receiving part(110), a storage part(130), a control part(120), and a display part(140). The GPS receiving part receives the position information of a vehicle. The storage part stores map data which comprises multiple map information. The control part takes out the map information corresponding to the received position information, and measures the distance of the drawn map information. The display part displays the map data to a screen.
