<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dental illuminating apparatus achieving excellent maintenance properties by facilitating exchange of a gas spring. <P>SOLUTION: The dental illuminating apparatus 10 for illuminating the oral cavity comprises an illuminating head 13 having a light source and a rotatable arm 20 having one end connected to the illuminating head and another end having a link mechanism. The arm has cases 21 and 22, the gas spring 40 arranged within the cases and acting on the link mechanism to generate retention force for holding the arm at a predetermined position, and a pair of holding members 30 and 50 arranged on the ends of the gas spring. When the gas spring is supported by the pair of holding members, the gas spring exerts retention force with respect to the link mechanism.
