The method involves assigning network members e.g. sensors, of one of two transmission channels (K1, K2) of a wireless network as a primary channel and the other transmission channel as a secondary channel, where the channels are time synchronized. One of activity classes is assigned to the members, where the class includes a network member that is communicated as a network member of the other class. Data packets (D1-D3) of the member of the latter class whose primary channel is defective are exchanged in one of time slots (Z1-Z9), which is assigned to the other member of the latter class.
