<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for backing up OS (Operating System) and personal data in a computer which does not have a kind of HDD (Hard Disc Drive). Ž<P>SOLUTION: The backup system provided is connected to a meta database server, a data storge server and a file server. A storage device includes an arithmetic-logic device, and the arithmetic-logic device stores OS or personal data. The system performs, after selection of a backup target arithmetic-logic device and designation of a storage position of a backup file in a file server storage device are performed by a user, backup of the arithmetic-logic device to the file server storage device.
