<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display equipped with an electric shifting mechanism for a projection lens, wherein the shift of the projection lens is easily and quickly adjusted without the need for special devices, such as a communication machine and a camera. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A grid image 23 having grid coordinates corresponding to the movable region of the electric shifting mechanism for the lens is displayed in a projected video 22, and the present position is displayed as a video position display image 24 in the grid image 23 on the basis of position and size information obtained from a relative position detecting means for detecting the relative position and size of the projected video 22 in the movable area. A positional relationship between a screen 21 and the projected video 22 is confirmed, and by inputting the numerical value of a moving coordinate position as a target from an operation part, the shift is automatically adjusted.
