The component i.e. multilayer piezo actuator (1), has an inner electrode (2) arranged in a multilayer body (5) and uncovered at a surface (7). Electrically conductive collecting contacts (8, 10) are electrically connected with the inner electrode. An outer layer (18) exerts a compressive stress on the collecting contacts. The outer layer comprises plastic or metal or glass fiber reinforced polyamide. A protective layer (17) is arranged between the collecting contacts and the outer layer. The protective layer comprises silicon elastomer or polyurethane. An independent claim is also included for a method for contacting an electroceramic component.
