<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing a French toast-like food product having a sufficient shape-retaining property so as to be held with a hand without oiliness though soft and moist, and to provide the French toast-like food product having the above characteristics. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the French toast-like food product includes applying a water-in-oil emulsion containing a polyglycerol fatty acid ester in which a fatty acid group is an unsaturated fatty acid group and the HLB is not less than 9 in an oil phase, and eggs and saccharides in an aqueous phase to bread or a cake, and then heating the resultant bread or cake.
