<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quantifying a free hydrochloric acid in a ferric chloride solution which directly, accurately and conveniently quantifies the free hydrochloric acid in the ferric chloride solution without quantifying iron by converting the iron within the ferric chloride solution used as an etching solution into a fluoride compound. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a pretreatment process for generating the fluoride compound by adding the iron within the ferric chloride solution to a sodium fluoride solution; and a titration process for adding an indicator to the solution in which the fluoride compound is generated, and implementing a neutralization titration of the free hydrochloric acid by using a sodium hydroxide solution.
