<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a salty taste enhancer which is inorganic substance, with even an extremely small amount of which sufficient effect can be obtained without changing the taste of food and drink, and the sustainability of salt-reinforcing effect of which is excellent. <P>SOLUTION: The salty taste enhancer contains phosphoric acid and/or phosphate as active ingredients. The salty taste enhancer preferably contains 1-100 mass% of the phosphoric acid and/or the phosphate as solid content. Preferably, a salt composition comprises sodium chloride and the salty taste enhancer.
